Plants and Dogs and Cars, Oh My! – August Events at O’Toole’s

Thursday August 18, 2016

Despite some rainy afternoons, we had wonderful turnouts at all of our August events. We’d like to say a great, big “Thank You” to everyone who attended! And we’d like to give a very special thank you to Welby Gardens who was on hand at all three stores displaying some of their brand new flower trial plants. Customers had a chance get a sneak peek at the garden of tomorrow and vote for their favorites. Welby’s will tally the scores, which will help us determine which exciting new flower species we’ll see in the stores next year.

But it wasn’t only flowers on display. At the Westminster (O’Toole’s) Dog Show, we had a parade of proud pups to admire. We had an obstacle course, a maze, a pet photographer and a bunch of other fun doggy activities. Thank you to all our customers who came by to show off their furry friends!

Finally, the annual Cruisin’ Thru O’Toole’s Car Show was a big success! Check out some pictures of the hot rods and cool rods that were on display. With delicious barbeque from Twisted BBQ and great tunes from Da Boogieman, plus a farmers market, ice cream and more, this one of our best car shows ever.

If you didn’t make it out to O’Toole’s this month, we have tons of events planned for the fall and holiday seasons. Sign up for our email updates and get reminders of upcoming events and sales sent right your inbox!

5 Tips for Seed Starting

Know your last frost date & use the seed packet to know when to start. Use Coco coir pots on a seed tray. Keep the soil loose. Don’t pack it in. Water from the bottom. Fill the tray to keep soil moist. Cover until the seedlings emerge to keep moisture in. Bonus! Heated seed mats give some seeds a boost.
